A new direction

So I've been thinking, alot, especially since the accident and I feel strongly about a new direction for Noguchi Designs.

I've always sewn, gifted everything in the beginning, then came my Little Lady and I moved on to Dresses and Toys (mostly) and opened shop. I love what I do, SEWING, it is a hobby for me not a job. I don't do well with stocking dates or times, I can function with a custom just fine in a turnaround that's pleasing to both myself and the buyer. I feel I shouldn't stress out over a hobby.

No I'm not closing, I am just slowing down and not committing anything. If I get a stuffed animal urge, then hey, I'll post that new Toys are available, or if I find a totally great Kyoko fabric I just have to make, I'll announce that there's new stock up. So on and so forth.

Now with the Quilting that I'm trying out, I'd love to have others enjoy them, I will try to find places to donate too, gift them as needed or wanted and maybe get lucky and sell one.

Just this month I made and donated 10 dresses to Dress A Girl. Do you know how super great it felt to drop that package off at the PO yesterday?

Oh so wonderful! that's how.

I do hope you stick around here and on FB I do appreciate all of you and your comments :)

Goals

This year I'd really like to learn more about quilting.
I've set a few goals for myself to help me along.
I'll be trying my hardest (while still sewing for the shop) to follow along with

1. the Challenges over at I don't have a problem, I have a well rounded fabric stash
2. Scrappy New Year Quilt A Long with SassyBlog
3. Sew-along with Fresh Squeezed
4. Craftsy's free BOM

Now I'm even like "wow, hey, hold on" I figure if I pace myself and focus on one a week- theres 4- then it shouldnt be too bad. Right?
I even sent up my desktop calendar for this!
1 project a week.
Plus sewing for the shop inbetween, stock shop once a week (hopefully) maybe biweekly, or once a month. Your input would be great on this.
When? How often? to stock the shop???

On Hold

Until further notice Noguchi Designs is on a hold, due to some unforseen events we are in for a super quick move, which will include lots of downsizing and readjusting. I'm hoping to be settled and ready to sew again come May. I will also pick up on Project52 then as well. Any & all instock items are available still for shipping out.

My reasoning

For not getting any work done these past two months.
So moving sucks, I admit I dislike it very much.
I like new places and moving furniture around but actual moving ....
I wish I could blink my eyes or snap my fingers and its just done for me.
This move was a bit different then our normal pcs move.
We got packed up last June, 6 people and a dog, 2200 sqft, 4 bdrms, office, dining rm, laundry rm, 2 story, hardwood and tile only, the works, our perfect home.
We get here and are in a temp duplex-3 bdrm, 1100 sqft, cream colored carpet, parking spot that we have to walk in the rain to get to the door.
2 people to a room, no one is too thrilled, the laundry room is a closet in the hall.
So the movers bring the trucks-yes trucks-2, the drivers look at us like we are crazy and say "all this isn't going to fit", really we knew this already.
We get our couches, dining table, beds, tv's, and pick through clothes and kitchen boxes. Everything else gets put under the covered back porch. The movers come to pick up everything again, 4 crates stuffed full.
6 months and a few days later hubby gets orders. Um... "I'm not moving by myself hun"
So he goes in and gets us pushed to the top of the list due to him leaving, yay a 4bdrm! Ok but still small, 1400 sqft, well small for all our crap, cream carpet again, hence why you see vinyl runners everywhere, yes I put vinyl down, 4 kids and a dog in Rainy Town WA.
Jan 18 we got our truck-Feb 15 I finally feel done enough to take pics.
So here you go, after 3 full van loads to the thrift shop, plenty of trash boxes, and multiple trips to the recycling center.
From the front door

Our odd shaped livingroom

My down sized collection of niknaks and books

From the back door

The undecorated dining room

Super messy kitchen

Hall from main entrance, yes thats the laundry on the left
Photobucket
General hall connecting all bedrooms and 1 bath
Photobucket
Super messy boys room, A & J share
Photobucket
L's room, my favorite, and the cleanest most organized
Photobucket
Photobucket
C's room, yes he's sleeping at 11, ugg teens
Photobucket
Kids bathroom, the smallest ever
Photobucket
Oh no nevermind, mine is!
Photobucket
And last but not least, the office,

The new desk

Now to start on the office and then get back into sewing.
And no you didn't miss it, theres no master bedroom,
ok ok there is but its not done yet either so no pics yet.

Changes

So I'm waiting on getting a Blog Page installed, also a new logo & header deal.
I'm so excited, then I can get new cards and everything.
Look out there will be changes coming soon.
I'm also going to limit my shops.
I'll be on MBMW of course but my second will only be NTC
I'm stepping down from OB and any guest spots like KK.
Hubby is due to leave in Jan-uugghh-again.
I'm changing my work days at work to accomidate being a single parent.
For the first time ever I'm hiring a sitter for my two little ones 2 days a week.
I really want to be able to do it all,
I want to stay home
I want to work outside for the income and time alone
I want to still sew for my shops
I want to attend all the sports games and band performances.
Is this possible?
YES
Dangit it has to be.
Oh and if all falls into place
in the next week or so we should be finally getting into a house,
lets say goodbye to this this temp place and hello to our boxes,
Please.
