? stacked strips ?

Heres a baby size quilt I worked up and finished a while back, its made from left overs of a throw quilt I have yet to finish.
Not exactly sure what to call it as it does have a resemblance to a few things I've seen out on the web. Which is were inspiration came from for sure, to include a pillow pattern that's in a book I own.
I tried a few things out, stitch in the ditch throughout the middle, random peaks all over the borders, red thread on the back side for fun to show on the sold grey.

3x6 blocks

Just received my final block from this quarter of 3x6 on Flickr.
I choose blue (sky/baby) green (grass) yellow (sun/bee) on black
the top is my tester block and the 6 below are the ones I received.

 My vision is a baby boy quilt, I want it to speak of the sky, grass, and bumblebee.
I may just sew the 6 up together as a mini and use mine as the back..... or sew up two more blocks and make it almost crib sized.....

NICU Quilts (mini's)

I'm sewing along with Hopeful Threads & Sew BitterSweet Designs this month

I finished up two minis to send along. I used this XO tutorial as my inspiration for these two.

The girl one finished in at 30x30 and is made from 1/2 a jelly roll.

The boy one finished in at 22x22 and I started with 6.5 cuts.

Bugs in a jar

Not quite ~
More like fruits & veggies in a jar.

 When we were in WA I was lucky enough to have a quilt shop in our town, while on my many trips in I picked up a charm pack of fruits & veggies along with the pattern Bug Jar Quilt #238 Gee Gee's Quilting Inc. the pattern includes 2 sizes.

Finally a year or more later I worked this up.

I did add in an extra border to make it bigger. It would be great as a play-mat ISpy style or a fun wall hanging or heck why not a stroller/car-seat/baby lap quilt.

I did bind with the back again as well as label the binding- both tutorials from Sew BitterSweet Designs.

Framed Fairies

Just a few days ago my friend Melissa @ Sew BitterSweet Designs launched her new pattern All Framed Up and I jumped at it. 

I fell in love with this when she debuted it as a block and was hoping she'd make a quilt pattern out of it.

For my quilt I used fabrics from my stash.

Miller, the green was left over from another project from last fall, the background fabric with dandelions is a piece of Japanese cotton my mom brought back for me, the back is a natural cream.

This took me a few nights to work on but it went together quickly.

 I played a bit by adding in the corner pieces to the back as well as trying out different quilting stitches my machine offers. For the binding I used my backing a tutorial Melissa offers.

I am so happy with MY quilt! 

Yes MINE, this lovely lady with take center stage on my couch.

Sassy Zig Zag

Just finished up my first Zig Zag Quilt-

I've been looking and searching and oohing and aawhing over all the ones lots of great quilters have done and I finally just went for it.

I used a charm pack of Sassy by Sandy Gervais for Moda

At first I was not going to have a solid in-between the prints.

 Once it was laid out it was a bit small.

I had enough yellow on hand so I added it in, 

I got to play on my new design wall with this one :)

(so easy, I picked up a white flannel backed table cloth and pinned it to the only blank wall left in the sewing room)

I played with a printed backing this time, while using the back as the binding again,

 so I keep to 'stitch in the ditch' as the quilting.

All done! 

Perfect for a baby girl gift.

Crib Quilt

Just finished this cute little quilt, its small but perfect for a car seat/stroller/crib topper. 

Pattern is Sleepy Jean Crib Quilt

 

I worked it up in Reunion by Sweetwater for Moda

 I followed a couple great tutorials for this little guy

Melissa @ SewBitterSweetDesigns showed how to bind a quilt with its backing

 and a neat way on how to label your quilt on its binding

Layer Cake Quilt

On the table.....

I wanted to get in here and work on something without having to buy anything, 

so on the hunt I went to find a quilt top pattern that only uses a layer cake.

Here's the pattern that I found, Basic Math Quilt.  

I used a walk in the woods layer cake.

This went together super quick & turned out way bigger than I expected. I'm hoping to find a backing this week (that I'll have to shop for).

Baby boy blanket

Just finished up on this little quilt/blanket. I did cheat a tad by purchasing a printed panel. I turned and topstitched. The back is thick flannel and there is a layer of poly in between. To finish it off I stitched around the balls, diapers, hats and followed the what would be seams of the triangles. I even followed the wiggly blue border.
Quick and easy, one day project, hitting the PO tomorrow.

Rainbow ticker tape gift set

A friend of the hubby from work had a baby girl a few weeks back. Hubby of course put me to "work". We looked online together and went through my fabrics and we came up with this blanket, backed in velour, with coordinating rabbit.
