Yesterday I happened upon this fun post
http://www.conniekresin.com/2011/09/candy-corn-centerpiece-tutorial.html
I just had to try my hand at my own version.
I pulled charm squares in yellow, orange & white ( 4 of each) I then sliced them in half so they were 2.5x5, then sewed them into 8 pieces, then cut into triangles 5x6. I then cut 1.5 by wof of my ghost print ( black would be great too) I followed suit like in the tutorial, I pieced 4 and 4 then 1 long strip right down the middle to connect the two.
So quick and easy, love it!

a piece for me
Just a few days ago I came across this fun tutorial.
Then today I notice this on my desk.
So of course I just had to pull out some scraps and go to town on my very own Halloween (quilt as you go) mug rug.
Some pictures along the way.......

Am I a quilter?
I'm not to sure....
Am I a sewist? Yes- I love sewing as a whole.
Am I a quilter? I have been self teaching how to quilt over the last year and a half, I have a few finished pieces, I have swapped and gifted quilted items- But does this make me a quilter?
I do believe I fall under quilter as a catagory, Newbie one at that.
Hows that sound? I am a Newbie quilter :)

Finished Quilted pieces needing to find new homes.
(Left) Currently on my design wall- 2 from a swap 1 I made
(Right) a wonderful piece that was gifted to me by Pieces to love
Quilt rack that's first seen as you enter the living room from the stairs
these are mixed pieces- passed down, made new and gifted and made by me.
My kitchen/dining as of this morning.
I love Halloween!
The piece on the wall was a panel I got last year, I quilted around each scene and framed here and there using fun little spiders and such throughout.
The table runner I received in a swap.

Shopping!
It's been a long while since I stepped into a fabric shop, boy I was surely excited to touch and feel and match pieces up in person.
When we lived here a few years ago I found a great little shop a few towns over into the next county, takes about 30 mins to get there, not bad at all. I was really hoping the shop was still around. It is still there but under new ownership and new name. prices went up as well :/ Before I could get a yard of Micheal Miller for $6.95!!! now its close to the online prices of $9 something.
I am hoping this doesn't mess with my final Dress prices all to much, I'll be doing up some math in the next few days to figure it all out.
With all this shopping...yes the shop with be reactivated and stocked up soon too :)

3x6 Q3 Hive 8
I got my blocks done & shipped!
They were super fun to make. Lots of great color combos to play with and to top it off I was able to use my stash for all 7 blocks. 99.5% of the colored prints were from the 3x6 bee fabric swaps.
Can't wait til all mine come in.
My inspiration this quarter was a boy sampler in Blue, Green, yellow on black,
I am seeing the Sky, the Grass & Bumble Bees. :)
